Tambo

Tambo post office, 95 km south east of Blackall, was opened on 1 January 1866 as Carrangarra before being named Tambo in 1868

Tambo R in oval registered handstamp on a Sideface rated 3R. Dated 23 January 1905. Seen in the collection of Tony Griffin. It is possible that this handstamp was added  in the TPO van (it has TPO and Toowoomba markings on the back) after Tambo forgot to apply the usual registered handstamp
