Printed Registered Envelopes

This page shows copies of printed registered envelopes used in Queensland. They sold for a halfpenny each.

For an article by John Bell on the differences between the Queensland McCorquodale and De La Rue printed registered envelopes and how to distinguish them, see here:

For an extract from the booklet Queensland Postal Stationery by P. Collas, published in 1979, on  the differences between the Queensland McCorquodale and De La Rue printed registered envelopes and how to distinguish them, see here:

Campbell also discussed these: Queensland King Edward VII Registration Envelopes, Philately from Australia vol 45 no 1 March 1993 pp. 25-26. Mark Diserio responded with additional information in the following issue here: As did Bernie beston in June 1994 here.

There was also a third type of registered envelope used in Queensland from 1912 onwards. It was stamped by the Commonwealth stamp printer in Melbourne using the same envelope stock used for WA registered envelopes.  It has no imprint - the flap folds to the back so the registration stamp appears on the reverse of a used envelope. Very few examples are known used in Queensland with Queensland stamps. Shown directly below are a mint and used example.

Here is a mint example courtesy of Ian McMahon and shown on the Queensland Stamp Collecting Facebook Group
