Printed Registered Envelopes

This page shows copies of printed registered envelopes used in Queensland. They sold for a halfpenny each.

1909 3d Registered envelope with McCorquodale & Co imprint. Flap not stuck. Specimen with Brisbane Cancel


Albion Registered Letter KEVII 3d red with 'Thos. De La Rue' imprint under flap uprated with QV 2 1/2d commercially used with an Albion Registered Label no 546 rated 3R. Dated 7 February 1913. Seen at Gartner Auction no 32


1879 McCorquodale formular type used in 1888 from Bundaberg to Graz, Austria with 2d x2, 6d & 1/- paying double rate. Ex Broekman & Collas . A great rarity; only one other example has been recorded [3000 of these envelopes were received in October 1879, and sold for ½d each. This item sold for $1900 in Gary Watson's auction of 14/9/1987, and was illustrated in "Queensland Postal History" at page 76. Seen at Prestige Philately auction no 98 lot no 888 


Bundaberg registered Handstamp on a Sideface and large chalon in red on a registered envelope. Dated 23 November 1888. Seen on the internet

Dalby 1912 KEVII 3d with De La Rue Imprint under the Flap to Brisbane with 1d tied by Dalby cds 11 January 1913 with a Registered Label in red rated 3R. Seen at Prestige Philately auction no 132


Ipswich 3d KEVII McCorquodale HG #C1, uprated with ½d 1d & 2½d from to NZ with Registered Label in black rated 3R. Dated 26 March 1909. Seen at Phoenix Auction no 50

Milton Registered Handstamp on a Sideface dated 30 March 1896 rated 3R. Seen in Prestige Philately auction no 98 lot no 865. Their description reads as follows: "1896 use of formular registration envelope overprinted 'CASH REMITTANCE' & GPO Brisbane address, with 'MILTON' cds & 'REGISTERED/MILTON' h/s above which the word "cash" has been written, very fine 'POST OFFICE/[crown]/MILTON' wax seal on the flap. [The only such official use of a registration envelope known to us. Being used on post office business, no stamp was required]." 


Oontoo R in oval registered handstamp on a Sideface rated 3R. Dated 18 July 1893. Seen in the Postal Stationery Collector vol 12 no 3. The Registered Envelope is not a Queensland type, but probably a South Australian one as Oontoo is on the Queensland / South Australian border


Rockhampton registered datestamp type 2 on a Sideface dated 28 October 1910 and rated common with a Rockhampton Registered Label in black rated 2R. Seen at Prestige Philately auction no 98


Toowoomba Registered Label in red on a sideface rated 3R on a registered envelope rated 3R. Dated 16 March 1912. Seen at Mossgreen auction no 210 lot no 428


Warwick Registered Label in red on a sideface rated 3R on a registered envelope rated 3R. Dated 20 January 1912. Seen at Philaworld auctions


Wyandra De La Rue 3d KEVII Registration Envelope H&G #2 uprated with 4-Corners 2d Sidefaces x2 & 1d Roo (perf faults) for double-rate transit to Germany, Wyandra red/black registration label, Brisbane transit & Riesa arrival backstamps. Dated 10 December 1913. Seen in Phoenix auction no 59
