There was also a third type of registered envelope used in Queensland from 1912 onwards. It was stamped by the Commonwealth stamp printer in Melbourne using the same envelope stock used for WA registered envelopes. It has no imprint - the flap folds to the back so the registration stamp appears on the reverse of a used envelope. Very few examples are known used in Queensland with Queensland stamps. Shown directly below are a mint and used example.

1879 McCorquodale formular type used 19 November 1888 from Bundaberg to Graz, Austria with 2d x2, 6d & 1/- paying double rate. Ex Broekman & Collas . A great rarity; only one other example has been recorded [3000 of these envelopes were received in October 1879, and sold for ½d each. This item sold for $1900 in Gary Watson's auction of 14/9/1987, and was illustrated in "Queensland Postal History" at page 76. Seen at Prestige Philately auction no 98 lot no 888

1891 McCorquodale & Co formular issue with 'R'-in-Oval size 225x100mm to "export druggists" in London with remarkable four-colour franking of ½d green, 2½d rose pair, 4d yellow & 1/- mauve pair all tied by barred parcel-roller cancels & very fine 'REGISTERED/SE 23 91/BRISBANE' cds alongside, oval 'REGISTERED/2NO91/LONDON' arrival d/s in red on the face, central vertical fold hardly detracts from the highly visual appearance. Extremely rare & desirable: this is the only recorded used example of any of the three sizes. Seen at Abacus auction no 240 lot no 608

Milton Registered Handstamp on a Sideface dated 30 March 1896 rated 3R. Seen in Prestige Philately auction no 98 lot no 865. Their description reads as follows: "1896 use of formular registration envelope overprinted 'CASH REMITTANCE' & GPO Brisbane address, with 'MILTON' cds & 'REGISTERED/MILTON' h/s above which the word "cash" has been written, very fine 'POST OFFICE/[crown]/MILTON' wax seal on the flap. [The only such official use of a registration envelope known to us. Being used on post office business, no stamp was required]."
